Porsche to Recall Cars and SUVs Over Brake and Fuel-Leak Concerns

About 28,500 vehicles are affected


Porsche has issued two separate recalls of about 28,500 sedans, sports cars, and SUVs because of concerns about brake warning light and possible gasoline leaks .

One recall affects 2017-2019 Cayenne SUVs and Panamera sedans. Motorists may not be advised as expected when the brake pads have worn out, putting them at risk of a gate-crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Trader will correct their own problems by updating the instrument cluster software .

Separately, Porsche is recollecting 14,388 of its 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman sports cars because a piece of the luggage compartment bracket can detach in a gate-crash and lead to a gasoline divulge. NHTSA says a divulge was discovered during a frontal gate-crash exam is engaged in February. Fuel divulges raise health risks of a flame, NHTSA says .

Both recalls are expected to begin April 21, 2019. Porsche will notify owneds, and pushers will perform the work free of charge .
