Billed as "the largest GTI event in the world", Wörthersee is also a great place for Volkswagen to roll out its latest concepts. This year, Wörthersee attendees will get a chance to see the new Polo R WRC Street concept, the which borrows styling cues from the Polo R WRC car (also on display) to emphasize the sporting nature of VW's new Polo models, set for launch in 2013 . The Polo R WRC Street gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, pulled from the Golf GTI and rated at 217 horsepower.
Billed as a road-going prototype for the FIA World Rally Championship, the newly-developed Polo R WRC is described as the "hottest Polo ever" by Volkswagen's head of development, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg. Volkswagen is also showing "Black GTI Dynamic" and "White GTI Concept 'cars at Wörthersee, and as the name implies, these are built around an exterior color theme.
