Photos emerge of new-generation Porsche 911 RSR testing ahead of Silverstone WEC debut…

More photos of Porsche’s next-generation 911 RSR have emerged, ahead of its expected debut in the 2019-20 FIA World Endurance Championship season.

The new GTE contender, along with other versions in the German manufacturer’s current lineup, were spotted testing at Monza this week.

It comes more than eight months after the car broke cover while testing in a pre-production phase at Porsche’s test track in Weissach.

Despite initial reports of a move to a turbocharged engine, it’s understood the new 992-based Porsche GTE car will remain with a normally aspirated powerplant, although with a distinctly different sound.

There’s also distinct differences to the front, rear and side bodywork on the car, which has been under development for more than a year.

At least two manufacturers will take advantage of the start of the new three-year cycle of GTE regulations, which will come into effect in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2020.

Chevrolet’s Corvette C8.R, which was exclusively spotted testing by Sportscar365 last summer, is also built to the updated regs.
