CAR GARAGE | Peugeot's 208 GTi Concept | Now, the French automaker has apparently learned its lesson and it has drawn inspiration from its hot hatch days for a second shot at a modern pocket rocket, dubbed the 208 GTI Concept. Not long ago Peugeot Attempted to revive its iconic GTI nameplate by launching a sportier version of the five-door 308 hatchback, only to find That the market is largely saw the car too heavy, too big, and too expensive to be called a GTi.
Looking at the concept, it is apparent That the 208 GTI Concept is Heavily inspired by the legendary 205 GTi of the 1980s and early 1990s. The back of the car is fitted with a small water diffuser, as well as a discrete roof-mounted spoiler.
The inside of the exhaust tips are painted red, a feature That will probably not make it to the production version of the car. The GTI logo is proudly displayed on the steering wheel, another design cue Borrowed from the 205.
The 208 GTi is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 200 horsepower and 202 lb-ft of torque.
